2002 - 2003 National Festival teamsCongratulations to Pleasanton, San Antonio and Humble JBQ Teams. All three churches earned the right to compete at the 2003 National JBQ Festival in Chicago. It was the first year that that South Texas sent three teams into the field of 71. The COPS from San Antonio placed 35th, the Bible Blasters from Pleasanton placed 40th and the Torches of Truth from Humble placed 48th. Individual quizzers also did excellent as well. In a field of almost 400 quizzers with 343 quizzers scoring, South Texas placed six in the top 100. Nathan Leonard from San Antonio was 14th, David Worthington from Humble was 21st, Garrett Shearer from Pleasanton was 61st, Garret Mercer from Pleasanton was 71st, Chris Herrera from Pleasanton was 72nd and Andrea Lee from San Antonio was 80th. For all of the Team and Individual results, click here. 2002 - 2003 Regional Festival teamsGulf Coast Christian Center, Pleasanton, San Antonio 1st and Humble 1st went to the South Central Regional Festival in Dallas. For the first time, three South Texas teams placed in the Top 6. Go to the South Central Regional page for more details and results. 2002 RegionalsFive teams from South Texas competed at the 2002 South Central Regional Festival. From the opening ceremony, replete with fanfare and flags, to the Master Quiz One-on-One competition, there was great fun and fellowship throughout the meet. Humble 1st, Brazoria 1st, Pleasanton 1st, Family Worship Center from Bay City and Living Branch from Conroe joined 14 other teams from Texas, Kansas and Oklahoma in competition. 2002 NationalsHumble 1st Assembly was the only team from South Texas to compete at the 2002
National JBQ Festival. They finished 42nd out of 70 with an 11 - 11 record at
the meet, their fourth year in a row to be there. Amy Maisch finished with 2035
points, averaging 92.5 points per game. That placed her in the top 15 quizzers
at the meet, and only 30 points from 9th place. 2001 ResultsThe 2000 - 2001 South Texas JBQ program was the largest to date. Over 70 teams competed in both divisions with 16 teams competing at the South Texas District Finals. In the Warriors division, Humble 1st Assembly finished in 1st, followed closely by Gulf Coast Christian Center. Humble completed District play without a loss and represented South Texas, along with Gulf Coast Christian Center, at the National JBQ Festival in June 2001. Results from 2001 South Texas District Finals EventsThe 3rd Annual South Texas Bluebonnet Invitational had 12 teams from across the region, including teams from Louisiana, Arkansas, South Texas and North Texas. Three teams that were there this year have already qualified for National Finals. We are looking forward to an even bigger meet this year.
